About me

Brian's work explores how psychological models can be applied to promote preventive health behaviours, including participation in breast screening and cardiovascular self-management and how behaviour change techniques can support patient adherence, informed decision-making and long-term health engagement. He is also interested in identifying and addressing psychological and structural barriers that hinder participation in preventive programs, such as screening, as well as integrating evidence-based interventions into broader public health strategies. Brian will be commencing a PhD at the University of Derby. His doctoral programme of research, supervised by Dr Daniel Gaffiero, Dr Amy Baraniak, and Dr Brenda Caldwell Phillips, will continue to examine psychosocial and structural factors affecting breast cancer screening intentions among women in the England and Malta. Alongside his academic research, Brian brings many years of international corporate experience, having held senior finance and consultancy roles at organisations such as Vodafone, PwC and the UK National Health Services. His time within both private and public sectors has shaped his growing interest in workplace wellbeing from a health psychology perspective, particularly how organisational structures and psychological frameworks can be used to improve employee health, reduce stress and support long term wellbeing in professional settings.
