Optional functionality and third-party publication metrics are disabled unless you choose to enable them. Rejecting optional technologies does not prevent access to the website’s core content.

03 — Optional categories
How optional services work
Strictly necessary
Security, administrator sessions and remembering the privacy choice. These cannot be switched off through the consent panel because the website cannot reliably provide the relevant service without them.
Functional
Remembers the homepage-introduction state during the current browser session. Disabled by default and enabled only when selected.
Anonymous performance and publication metrics
Allows aggregate first-party Core Web Vitals and enquiry-path counts, and permits the Altmetric script to load. Altmetric may receive online identifiers and technical information directly from your browser.
Altmetric is a separate organisation and its current privacy and cookie information applies to its processing. The service may involve international data transfers. The website does not load the Altmetric script before the relevant consent is recorded.
04 — Control
Manage or withdraw your choices
You can accept, reject or customise optional categories when the consent panel first appears. Reject and accept options are presented as genuine alternatives, and optional categories are not pre-selected.
Withdrawing consent prevents optional services from loading on future page views. It cannot undo processing that lawfully occurred before withdrawal. You can also delete cookies or site data through your browser controls, although blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect authorised sign-in or preference functions.
Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to view, delete or block cookies and site storage. The exact controls vary by browser and device. Browser-level blocking can operate in addition to the choices made on this website.
05 — Review
Policy changes and contact
This inventory should be reviewed whenever the website’s plugins, embedded services, hosting configuration or tracking technologies change. Material changes will be reflected in the review date at the top of this page and, where required, visitors will be asked to make a fresh choice.
Questions about this policy can be sent to research@gaffieroresearch.co.uk.
